Samsung i8510 : 8 Megapixel

The new Samsung i8510 promises to give competition to most of the compact digital cameras, say experts.

With an eight-megapixel image sensor producing images of identical quality to most digital compact cameras, the new Samsung phone could be regarded as a milestone in camera phones.

Equipped with a flash, the i8510 can also detect when people in the picture are smiling.

Paul Nuttall, from What Digital Camera magazine, said the Korean firm's latest model and others in the same league could pave the way for many consumers to decide not to bother buying a compact.

"The gap has closed between compact digital cameras and camera phones in recent years, and I think the average consumer would struggle to see the difference between an eight-megapixel phone and dedicated camera image," The Scotsman quoted Nuttall, as saying.

He added: "The only issue is one of size. In a phone there just isn't room for a big zoom lens, and that is where traditional cameras do have an advantage."

Other features of the Samsung phone include built-in satellite navigation, eight gigabytes of storage space for music and high-speed wireless internet access.

Sony has unveiled 3 new phones in a new range of Walkman phones - W902, W595 and W302. Packed with Walkman features, these phones promise to deliver a great musical experience.

The W902 Walkman facilitates music control through its music navigation keys, allowing you to skip forward or back, play and pause with a single push of a button. It also comes with music features that allow you to boost the base, tweak the treble and choose the music type with the equalizers. Features, the company claims, that have been designed to give you a perfectly clear audio experience.

The W902 has the same superior sound quality as the newly launched W980 Walkman, which was rated "best audio experience" in a trial conducted in Germany by TESTfactory.

You can also experience crystal clear video on the bright, clear, scratch-resistant 2.2" QVGA display, and record moments using the 5 megapixel camera and the powerful photo flash.

Tata Indica Vista

I really don't understand why Tata has used the word Vista for this model. Windows Vista has been a step backward for Microsoft. Also Tata has got a penchant for copying names from American computer companies. First the Nano from Apple and now this. I really don't like this car for several reasons. Design seems to be copied from a Peugeot, not that's a bad thing, but why didn't they copy the interiors too. The mid mounted instrument cluster looks a thing of the past, and the quality is typical Tata. Look at that steering wheel, looks bad. The tail lamps look the same as all Tata cars, from the Indigo to the Nano with a minor colour change.Tata you just acquired Jaguar, didn't you?

Tata has named the top end model Aura, which again is not impressive. Hopefully mechanically this car should be good. Tata should have improved on the gearbox and handling. But wait, they are copy pasting Fiats fantastic 1.3 Litre multijet engine with a change of name, Quadra Jet. Also on the line up will be 1.2 Litre Petrol and a re-worked version of 1.4 Litre Turbocharged IDI engine, for the Taxi segment, me thinks. It does get a host of features not seen in the segment like lumbar support (front seats), height adjustable driver seat, tilt adjustable steering wheel, a dual din audio system with USB and AUX input and a remote control, front and rear fog lamps as standard in the Aura. There will be slight price hike over the current Indica.

PC Of The Future - E-Ball

Aren’t you tired of your PC? By his ugly shape and the way that it looks? Well, this is exactly what designer Apostol Tnokovski was feeling when he decided to create the smallest PC ever made. It’s not going to be like a PDA, it’s going to be a PC with all conventional components (mouse, keyboard, normal screen).

The concept PC is called E-Ball and it’s shaped like a sphere because in Tnokovski’s opinion this is the best shape in nature and it draws everybody’s attention.

E-Ball will feature a dual core processor, 250-500GB HDD, 2GB of RAM, integrated graphic card and sound card, 2 x 50W speakers, HD-DVD recorder, wireless optical mouse and laser keyboard, LAN and WLAN card, modem, Web cam and integrated LCD projector.

Also, the E-Ball PC supports a paper holder and the paper sheet on the holder could act like a screen where you can watch movies or something. This concept PC will measure 160mm in diameter and it was designed for Microsoft Windows OS, sorry about the others. For the moment there is no word on pricing or when it’s going to be available, however, I am sure that everybody would like to see a small spherical PC like this one.

This is an original Concept, made of a Ring that could control the Playback functionality of your iPod/iPhone device Wirelessly (A ring has to be wireless, you wouldn’t expect to see cables lingering around your fingers) Modeled in Max 9 and Rendered in Vray, with a dose of style and substance.

Although the ring is still in concept stages you would love to have it in your must have things. The pricing is unknown at this stage and also the launch date.

However this becomes the perfect ring for future engagement's for gadget geeks like us :p

Kismat Korrection

The much hyped Kismat Konnection is a movie worth avoiding. Raj's (Shahid Kapoor) luck hasn't been favouring him and problems follow him where ever he goes. However when ever Raj's lucky charm Priya (Vidya Balan) is around, things go in the right direction or so they say.

And the rest is very predictable. The movie tries to be desperately funny and is a mix of two hollywood flicks (When did Indian movies have their own originality anyways) and soon you think you are watching Lage Raho Munna Bhai. I don't see a reason why some anyone would want to watch this movie, after reading the reviews, except if they are a Shahid fan. In interviews Shahid has been shouting aloud that Aziz Uncle's movies can be watched dozens of times without getting bored, sure he is right, but make sure you grab some cotton for your ears to have a sound sleep.

Small kids have always been a favorite with advertisers since time immemorial. After all, your heart immediately melts when you see a small child talking about his / her favorite product. Two such kids (one a small good-looking boy and the other a cute little girl) were seen many years ago in one of the most popular commercials for a popular health and energy drink - Complan. While the boy proudly exclaimed "I am a Complan Boy" even the girl was not one to be left behind and said "I am a Complan girl". The ad is still etched in our memories but what's interesting is that today that very good-looking boy and cute girl are among the teen heartthrobs of the nation.

Yes we are indeed talking about the super cool Shahid Kapoor and the glamorous Ayesha Takia. Make XP look like Vista

Tired of your XP? Want to buy Vista? Well, don’t. Vista is still full of bugs and not reliable yet. So what’s so good about it? Most people like the new and pretty looks.

It’s a great idea to mix together the good things from both Windows systems: the reliability of XP and looks of Vista. Lets go over this, step-by-step so you can easily follow.

1.Change the theme. This is probably the most important thing when trying to make your XP look like Vista. You will need a good Vista-ish theme, I recommend VistaXP or YAVFC. You should be able to get some good ones from Deviantart.

But before you can install 3rd party themes, you will need to patch up your uxtheme.dll file. This file tries to stop you from using other themes than Microsoft’s own. Here are the patches for service pack 1 and service pack 2. (If you’re not sure which Service Pack you have just check properties by clicking on my computer tab on the desktop)

You can replace the file manually, but the easiest way is to use replacer, which also backs up the old file in case anything goes wrong..

To replace, go to C: \WINDOWS\System32 and look for uxtheme.dll, which should be among the bottom half of the files. Drag it into the replacer window. Now drag the patch which you downloaded into the window and confirm.

To install a theme, download and unzip into the C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes folder.

You’ll also need StyleXP to use the themes.

Now that the hardest part is over, take a deep breath and give yourself the good-old pat on the back.

2. Download the Vista cursor pack. Unzip it to your desktop or anywhere where you can find it later. Now, go to Control Panel -> Appearance and Themes -> Mouse Pointers and open the pointers tab. Click a cursor, press Browse and find the corresponding Vista cursor from the pack you downloaded.

Try Yahoo Widgets or Thoosje for that Vista signature sidebar.

If you want to, you can also get the TRANSPARENT explorer and internet explorer, which are almost as good as the real ones.

3. A transformation pack is also necessary if you want to go all the way. Basically, what this does, is that it replaces the startup, logon and shutdown screens of XP and makes them look like Vista. You will need to sacrifice some startup speed, but that’s the price.

Story behind the title “Singh is Kinng”

Superstar Akshay Kumar recently revealed that he was inspired by the phrase “Singh Is King” which he noticed on the back of a truck, when he was driving to Jaipur.. “The title went brilliantly with the theme of our film” says the Khiladi Kumar, who after 4 back-to-back hits suffered a disaster in the form of Tashan, although his performance in the movie was appreciated.

Yes, I am wondering what has happened to Cricket. The game has changed so drastically. Its not like before. Todays players hit so many sixes, does that mean the previous players were not competent enought. Not quite. Watch this video below and you will be suprised.

The suprise is not Lance Klusner. Yes he was a fantastic player and one of my favourites. But the suprise is the ground is very very big compared to the grounds you see in the IPL. Certainly the grounds have been made smaller to aid the batsmen to score more runs and hit more sixes. So dont be too suprised if you see any domestic player come and hit crazy amount of sixes. A six in the IPL is a catch in International cricket.

Yes, you can watch the trailer of the Titanic : Two the surface. A sequel to James Cameron’s 1997 blockbuster in which Leonardo DiCaprio’s character Jack Dawson is found frozen among the wreckage of the Titanic, where he is brought back to the surface and thawed. He then escapes and is on the run from authorities in modern day New York City.

I think it is a very good effort and doesnt let you think that the sequel to Titanic doesnt exsist.

Worst Internet Connection

Which is the worst internet connection? Well i think there is no contest it is Sify Broadband. Firstly i dont understand how Sify has the bright idea of giving pop ups when you login. I mean if there are giving me free internet services then they might as well give as many advertisement as they like, but you pay them not for the services but for their pop up advertisement. So darn irritating.

Well thats not all. Contacting them is another tough task. You have a problem so you will need to call them up on their toll free number eh, sounds good, nah it doesnt work that way. They will mostly ask you to leave your number and then assure you a call back in half an hour, which they never do. Worst still if you get to talk to someone and tell them your problem they will keep you on hold and then you get a automated voice asking, English or Hindi? Its not only the internet thats bad, the service is equally worst and that makes Sify the worst internet connection that can be, and its not just me, ask any Sify user and they will say the same. You login and then no pages open, you logout and it says BB110, Logout failure. You login again and its working fine and then back to square one, logout failure. Its not one error, there are so many and the worst is IP adress conflict which can drive you upto the wall. Its high time some company starts a trouble free internet connection.

However after seeing this advert i didnt even bother to try the games, but then i thought ill give it a shot just for fun sake. I was disappointed. The games are bad, you would be hard pressed to know that you are in the 21st century and playing games belonging to the 19th century at best. Graphics are poor and the games are slow. Even Cricket 2000 would be more fun then playing online. Here are some screen shots.

Well ET has just reviewed the movie Jannat from the Bhatt camp and honestly speaking with Emraan ~~Kiss~~ Hashmi in it, we cant expect much, now can we? Emran Hashmi aint all that bad actor as we all presume, but the story line itself is a disaster, so he cant do much!! Here is the review from ET, a worth while read and will save you a few hours you would have otherwise wasted watching this movie.

First things first! The Bhatts have as much (or rather as minuscule) knowledge about match-fixing and cricket-betting as much as any average audience. So do not expect a fine-tuned screenplay detailing the intricacies on the misconduct of cricket or revealing the modus operandi of the sport malpractice. The Bhatts are no Bhandarkar. Rather be prepared for a superannuated story sketched not even around but on the external periphery of the theme of match-fixing.

So you have the conventional filmi hero character Arjun Dikshit (Emraan Hashmi) who subjects himself to love at first sight as he notices the heroine Zoya (Sonal Chauhan) staring at a diamond ring in a mall. He shoplifts rings, splurges credits cards and gambles to get hold of a swanky car to woo the girl. While the audience doesn't fall prey of such lousy layouts in the plot, the girl predictably falls for the guy.

Meanwhile our hero's basic instincts work overtime (and we aren't implying Emraan's mandatory lip-locks here). He proclaims of his sharp sixth sense that can predict every single move in the cricket matches as if he were some ancestor of Nostradamus. From betting on matches, he turns a bookie and subsequently upgrades himself as a match-fixer. Rather than an elaborate evolution, the progression of his character is rushed through one transition song. Moreover the offhand approach through which he lures cricket captains amidst match innings by his casual conversations in locker rooms is to be seen to be believed.

Soon Arjun shifts base to South Africa working for a match-fixing mafia head Abu (Javed Sheikh) who is perpetually stationed in a stadium. Abu is distinctly demarcated as the desperado as his unlawful activities are extended to terrorism funding. Arjun is given a relative clean chit on the pretext that match-fixers are not murderers.

The following story is stuffed with clichés galore. Arjun earns easy money through his illegal means. Zoya disapproves of Arjun's immoral ways but unapologetically resorts to strip-dancing in night clubs!!! In between there's a burger-bite hungry inspector on the constant trail of Arjun. A Bob Woolmer look-alike too surfaces in the climax though with little significance as the writers take liberty to manipulate his murder to their own benefit. And the film opts for a hurried end distinctly derived from Mahesh Bhatt's Naam.

The love story in Jannat resorts to the archaic templates of the 80s while the backdrop theme of match-fixing on which the film is formulated is least exploited in its screenplay.

Alas in search of this heaven we only find hell.

Deccan Chargers

I am extrememly disappointed with Deccan Chargers game. They were the favorites to win the IPL but they didnt even manage to win half the matches they have played, yesterday was their 8th consecutive defeat. So what went wrong?

Well not much, poor bowling, followed by poor fielding and almost equal poor batting performance. Mind you this side has renowned big hitters like Adam Gilchrist, Andrew Symonds(has left now to play for Australia), Shahid Afridi, Scott Styris and Herschelle Gibbs, and there bowling attach aint too bad either with pacers like R.P. Singh, Nuwan Zoysa and Chaminda Vaas. All of these bowlers bowl absolute crap i am sorry to say. The match against the Knight Riders, every second ball was a full toss and smacked for 6. Batting is appalling, since Adam Gilchrist comes and goes pretty soon, Shahid Afridi thinks he is superman and wants to hit a six on every ball and Gibbs just doesnt perform. He too has the tendacy of Afridi. While Scott Stiris thinks he is playing a test match, nudging every ball for a single and then giving the long on fielder a pretty easy catch. However there is one player who has really suprised, its Venu Gopal Rao, who has played fantastically, however one man cant alone win the battle. The Deccan Chargers are represented by a charging bull, the mascot for the chargers which signifies strength, power and aggression while the red and gold bands on the flag stand for dominance and victory. I think it should be opposite of that. I had a chance to meet the chargers some time back, will write about that some time later with some pics of the stoppables, i managed to take.

Shah Rukh is Aamir Khan's dog

I came across Aamir Khan's blog today and his latest post really caught my attention.

I’m sitting under a tree, on the edge of a valley, approximately 5000 feet above sea level. The river Krishna flows far below us snaking its way among the Sahyadri mountains. A cool breeze is blowing, jannat ki hawa (breeze from the heavens), as my mother calls it. Ammi, Ira and Junaid are by my side and we are in the middle of one of our favourite board games ‘Settlers Of Catan’. Shahrukh is licking my feet and I am feeding him biscuits every now and then. What more can I ask for?

Now, before you jump to any conclusions let me add that Shahrukh is the name of our dog. And before you jump to any further conclusions let me add that I had nothing to do with naming him. In fact Shahrukh is the dog of the caretakers of our house. When I bought this house it came with the caretakers and their dog! Apparently Shahrukh (the actor) was shooting for a commercial in this house a few years ago, and that very day the caretakers bought a pup…, and named him Shahrukh. What are the chances of me buying a house which comes with a dog called Shahrukh!!!

Some of my friends claim that I bought the house just because of the dog. I would have to be a serious fan of Shahrukh’s to want to do that. Your guess…

All I can say is I’m waiting for him to come over, .

Getting back to Settlers of Catan, it’s a wonderful game. You must try it if you are fond of board games.

All in all I am having a great time with my mom and kids here in my favorite place on earth, Panchgani. I think Kiran and I must have done something good in our life to be blessed with this great place to get away to.

My hamstring muscle seems to be healing, slowly but surely.

Catching up on films, saw Casino Royale last night which I liked.

Incidentally Panchgani is a favorite with para-gliders. Now that’s something I am going to learn as soon as I finish with the Ghajini shoot.

Well Shahrukh is once again begging for my attention, so let me get back to him. He is smelling too much, I think he needs a bath. “Heel boy, heel.”

While i am in no way a big fan of Shahrukh Khan, but this kind of posts by Aamir Khan doesnt speak much good about him. I am pretty sure that Shahrukh Khan will take it sportingly, however the media and his fans surely wont, and why should they. This was totally uncalled for. I thought Aamir Khan was a true professional in the real sense and wouldnt take diggs at others like this, but i am really disappointed.

Which Notebook looks the sexiest?

Which laptop do you think is the best looking. There are many computer companies around and many or rather most make notebooks too but there are very very few notebooks which appeal to the eyes. I mean, a notebooks basic function is to have go anywhere mobility but what the heck, what about the asthetics? If someone says "Best Looking NoTebOoK", then there are just two words that comes to the mind of any one (me included) instantly, no guess this, its "~~Sony Vaio~~"

But not quite!! Till you see Acer's Aspire Series or the Gemstone concept. This notebook from Acer is equivalent to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan or Jennifer Lopez. In short this notebook looks mind blowing i think. Acer's tagline is "Life is busy, Acer makes it easy", and with the way Acer's notebooks look, i certainly feel they are sticking very well to their tagline. Just look at this. I mean looking at it, wont it make it so much easier.

However since i am not much into notebooks, i would request all of you to tell me what you honestly feel, which notebook looks the best according to you. And wait, i was just talking about affordable notebooks, otherwise the best looking notebook in the world is undoubtedly this one, by far, no two thoughts about this one.

Its quite light, as it uses Carbon Fiber (Material used in expensive cars to reduce weight instead of steel and carbon fiber is much stronger) Now somebody can gift me one, my birthday is coming near, hehe.
